    While he was just 16 when he and three others stabbed a Kenedy teen to death and left his body in a vehicle parked off state Highway 72 west of Pawnee in 2015, Philip Aguero is headed to prison. On Friday in Karnes County District Court in Karnes City, Judge Russell Wilson of the 218th Judicial District sentenced Aguero to serve the remainder of his 18-year sentence in a state prison.

    The Karnes County Grand Jury met on July 27 and returned 33 indictments on 21 individuals, including one against Marcus A. Reyna, 27, of Kenedy on a charge of murder. Jarrod J. Stewart, 33, and Jonathan W. Andruss, 30, both of Stockdale, were also indicted on seven burglary and theft charges each.

    Kenedy city officials and citizens have been living under water restrictions and that city is planning to drill up to seven water wells into the Evangline aquifer near the Goliad County line in eastern Karnes County. That action has property owners in that part of the county furious and fearful that their wells will dry up.
