Mansfield moved into 10th place in the Varsity Division standings with the victory over Carroll, a team that is ranked ahead of Mansfield.

    An already delayed construction project at a busy Keller intersection was delayed further, according to the city of Keller, and now the project won't begin until January. Earlier this year, the city asked the Texas Department of Transportation to delay the $880,000 project at the intersection of U.S. 377 and Farm 1709 to avoid the holidays, said Keller public information officer Rachel Reynolds.

    Keller police arrested a Watauga man on Oct. 28 who is accused of stealing packages from porches in Keller and Fort Worth, according to a Keller Police Department news release. William Scott, 35, is facing charges of misdemeanor theft after he allegedly stole packages "on at least three different occasions" over the past several months, according to the release.

    Fourteen teams from Keller district high schools along with Hillwood Middle School competed in the very first Keller ISD Robotics Competition Oct. 28 at Timberview Middle School. About 70 students from school engineering clubs participated in the contest, which involved scoring points by having robots move and stack large plastic pegs and open-faced cubes.

Northwest defeated Keller by a score of 35-33 in the season finale on Thursday night, and coach Bill Poe said he was very pleased with his team's effort.

    All the work invested since the late summer has paid off for Fossil Ridge, Keller and Central, as the three teams prepare for their opening-round playoff football games this week. Keller will take on Plano West on Thursday at 6 p.m.; Fossil Ridge will play McKinney Boyd on Friday at 6 p.m. and Central will play Allen on Saturday at 5 p.m. It wasn't until after the Keller vs. Northwest game that the teams knew their fate for certain.

The Texas Department of Transportation agreed to delay the $880,000 project at the intersection of U.S. 377 and Farm to Market 1709 until December "in the interest of a avoiding a significant impact to area residents and business owners during the holidays," according a news release from the city of Keller.
