    Police have identified the 61-year-old Kailua-Kona man killed Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Keahole Airport Road as James Sakai. Responding to a 3:52 p.m. call, police determined that a bicycle operated by Sakai had been traveling south on the highway when it collided with a 2008 Dodge pickup truck operated by a 41-year-old Kapaau man, which had been traveling west on Keahole Airport Road after the truck had completed his left turn from the highway.

    Live arcing power lines and lack of water access made it difficult for firefighters to battle a structure fire in North Kohala Sunday night. Hawaii Fire Department firefighters first got the call about the blaze on Kapaau Road at 7 p.m. When they arrived on scene five minutes later, crews found a single-family home engulfed in flames and partially collapsed, according to a press release.
