    Roeland Park may be the next city in northeast Johnson County to at least consider the proposal that the age for tobacco purchases be raised to 18. The city council agreed last week to hear a presentation from Councilor Erin Thompson at one of its February meetings, possibly on Feb. 1 or Feb. 15, according to Council President Becky Fast. Both Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo., passed ordinances in November raising the age for tobacco purchases from 18 to 21. The same month, the Shawnee Mission School Board passed a resolution supporting the changes in the law and asking each of the 14 cities in the school district to increase the age .
