    The Bald Mountain Fire, located about one mile from Payson, was fully contained as of 7 p.m., according to incident information system Inciweb . The lightning-caused fire scorched an estimated 18,620 acres, or about 29 square miles, since it ignited on Aug. 24. The Pole Creek Fire grew to 102,231 acres, or just under 160 square miles, and was 83 percent contained by Tuesday evening, officials said.

    The Murdock Fire in the Mirror Lake Complex area east of Kamas made a "run to the north" and caused the closure of state Route 150 Sunday, officials said. As of Saturday night, the fire was a half mile from Blythe Lake in the High Uintas Wilderness and burned to the foot of Mount Agassiz, according to a tweet from Utah Fire Info.

    An Evanston, Wyoming, man accused of stabbing a man who bumped into him in a Summit County convenience store was charged Monday with attempted murder, a first-degree felony. On Saturday, a 62-year-old Magna man was purchasing items inside the Bear River Lodge on the Mirror Lake Highway, about 48 miles east of Kamas, when he physically bumped into Charles Ryan Hendricks, 45, on accident, police said on Saturday.

    Ogden School District's $106.5 million school construction bond was narrowly defeated, according to the latest election results released Thursday by the Weber County Clerk's Office. Fifty-one percent voted against the question while 48.62 percent voted for the bond, which would have been used to replace the gymnasium at Ben Lomond High School, replace three elementary schools and develop "professional gateway centers" at Highland and Mount Ogden junior high schools.
