    A 65-year-old Milford man was arrested for driving under the influence after his combine veered into a ditch, hitting a car whose driver attempted to avoid the farm machinery. The Kansas Highway Patrol's report said 65-year-old John Kramer was driving the combine south on Lyons Creek Rd. four miles south of Junction City at about 1:45 p.m. when he struck a Mercury Sable which had stopped to allow the combine to pass.

    A bald eagle suffering from lead contamination is flying again thanks to concerned landowners, local law enforcement, staff of the Milford Nature Center and veterinary intervention at Kansas State University. Professor of Wildlife and Zoological Medicine at the Veterinary Health Center at K-State said the eagle was brought to them on January 11. After the bird was admitted to the Veterinary Health Center, a physical examination and testing found it was suffering from lead poisoning.
