    The Army Corps of Engineers has agreed to restore 24-hour service to the most important locks on the Ouachita River navigation system after more than two years of lobbying from the Ouachita River Valley Association. Bill Hobgood, executive director of the association says 24-hour service will be restored on the Jonesville and Columbia locks, where more than 90 percent of commercial navigation takes place, by late summer or fall.

    Seven adults have been arrested in Catahoula Parish for the alleged sexual abuse of a teenage victim. Catahoula Parish Sheriff James Kelly says his office received information last week about the possible sexual abuse of a juvenile younger than 16. After investigating, Kelly says detectives determined that "a series of incidents" involving the teenage victim had happened at a number of home in the Jonesville and Larto Lake areas.

Wade Rasberry, resident agent in charge for federal bureau Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in Shreveport, says 55-year-old Bill Wesley Womack is charged with possession of an unregulated destructive device and possession of a machine gun.
