"That tax will increase to 3 percent as of November 1, 2016, bringing the local tax rate for hotels and other transient lodging facilities to 6.5 percent," said Town Manager Candace Gallagher.

A water emergency was proclaimed June 22 when the town's water tanks - - which are spring-fed and normally refill overnight - - dropped to half-full and continued to drop at a rate of six inches a day.
