    The Holts Summit Board of Aldermen held the first read of an ordinance Thursday, accepting hundreds of easements with residents in preparation for work on a multi-million dollar sewer project. The project, which has been in development for years, will connect the currently separate eastern portion of the city's sewer system to the western portion, allowing for all waste water to flow to Jefferson City.

    A Columbia woman died Friday afternoon after jumping off an overpass in Holts Summit and then getting hit by a vehicle on U.S. 54. Witnesses later told police that Deana Arcane, 46, jumped from the bridge and landed on the westbound lanes of 54 below before being struck by a vehicle. Emergency medical crews worked on Arcane at the scene and took her to Capital Region Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
