"A drive along Merrick Boulevard from Jamaica Avenue all the way to the Long Island Border on Friday, September 9th around 6pm showed a complete lack of enforcement when it comes to illegal parking of cars by auto body shops on streets and blocking sidewalks and illegal parking of huge tractor trailers. I counted at least 100 cars in various condition and about 20 large tractor trailer trucks parked on Merrick Blvd. This has been an issue that neither NYPD is properly addressing nor community board 12 and the local elected officials of that area , ALL, who are aware of this blatant illegal activity that has turned Merrick Blvd into the new Willet's Point, except Willets's Point did not have people living right in the middle of it. From DNA Info : Fare payment machines at a Jamaica stop for the Q44 Select Bus have had no power for the past two months, frustrating straphangers who have since had to pay for their ride at the next stop, commuters said. The machines at the Archer Avenue/153rd Street stop, in front of the Queens County Family Court, went offline on June 19, according to the MTA. Comment?

From DNA Info : After nearly 100 years in business, the Elmhurst Dairy will close its milk processing plant in Jamaica, resulting in the loss of 273 jobs and the end of the city's famous brand, the company announced Tuesday. The dairy, which according to its website, supplies milk to more than 8,300 grocers and 1,400 public schools, is the last of about 20 milk processing plants in the New York City and Long Island area which all closed within the past 25 years, the company said.
