    A new business opened Friday on W. Prospect Street next to the Family Dollar. The CSL Plasma Donation Center opened it's doors with 18 beds and expects to expand to as many as 60. CSL Plasma purchased the building at 103 W. Prospect in May of last year for $1.67 million.

    In a press release, the City of Jackson announced that a busy roadway in a neighborhood on Jackson's southwest side is closed for water main replacement and pavement resurfacing. West Avenue between Bloomfield Boulevard and Crescent Road was closed to through traffic the morning of Monday Oct. 1. Crews will begin work on Tuesday Oct. 2 to replace the water main underneath West Avenue.

    Former Citizen of the Year Nikki Joly, one of the leading voices in the march to passage of the city's Non-Discrimination Ordinance was arrested Monday on charges of arson stemming from a fire in his home on Pringle Street that killed the family pets, and injured a firefighter on August 10, 2017. Joly, 53, has a probable cause conference set for October 5, and a probable cause hearing on October 11. His bond was set at $25,000.
