    A special prosecutor looking into criminal allegations against an embattled Campbell County judge has added a second probe to the investigation he is already overseeing. Dan Armstrong, district attorney general for the Third Judicial District, initially was tasked to find out whether Sessions Court Judge Amanda Sammons illegally upgraded a charge against a Jacksboro woman and then lied about it.

    Lincoln Memorial University will present the Appalachian Shakespeare Project production of William Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" for a three performance run beginning July 8. Originally, set to open on July 1, the first weekend of shows were cancelled due to the sudden and untimely death of Assistant Professor of Theatre Mark McGinley. McGinley, 37 of Jacksboro, Tennessee, passed away on June 29. At the time of his death, McGinley was preparing to debut the second adaptation.

Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in August 2014 and taught nearly all of the school's theatre classes.

    The family of a Jacksboro police detective who died in 2015 following a car crash allege personnel at the University of Tennessee Medical Center gave him a deadly dose of pain medication. Lawyer Gregory P. Isaacs confirmed Friday he filed the Knox County Circuit Court lawsuit with attorney Chris Coffey on behalf of the family of Mike L. Starrett, 54. Starrett died Jan. 30, 2015, about a week after a wreck he was in while responding to a crash that killed a Rocky Top man and a child on Highway 116 in Caryville.
