Islesboro Central School made such a call when it announced on Tuesday, Nov. 6 that it would be unable to field boys or girls varsity basketball teams, which effectively has grounded the Eagles' 2018-19 seasons before they were able to get airborne.

    I would have voted YES in favor of passing this law L.D. 745, To simply say that we don't need to vote in favor of this bill because Fed law already prohibits FGM, If it is true then why do we still have drug dealers, grand larceny, murders, To just have a fed law is not enough of a deterrent, Fed laws need to be backed up by people that are willing to take a stand and be counted, to do what is right, to strengthen the Fed law with a state law that shows that we are unified in one desire to protect these innocent little girls from this barbaric practice FGM. Jon Liberman, Our District Attorney has requested that this bill L.D. 745 be passed.

    The Islesboro soccer team traveled across Penobscot Bay to the mainland twice in recent days to experience regular-season games in unique venues - one indoors and the other outdoors. In fact, the Eagles, a coed high school squad, played fellow Penobscot Bay opponent Vinalhaven-North Haven on Monday, Oct. 15 on the artificial turf at Point Lookout in Northport, just days after Islesboro battled Temple Academy of Waterville in a rare indoor game on Thursday, Oct. 11 at the PITCH in Warren There have been recent sloppy days across the state, as persistent rain battered everything, including athletic fields, but that did not stop Islesboro from playing scheduled games.
