    The Chatham County Commission on Friday approved a $1.6 million contract with Savannah-based Collins Construction Services, Inc., for construction of the precinct and provision of a backup generator for the facility on Whitefield Avenue. Commission Chairman Al Scott said the precinct, which he has dubbed a replacement for an earlier facility closed in light of budget constraints in 2008, will serve the unincorporated areas in and around Pin Point, Burnside Island, Modena Island, the Isle of Hope and Skidaway Island.
