    After years of uncertainty whether racing would continue at Irwindale Speedway, operators said Wednesday the racetrack will close in January 2018. In an emailed statement, Jim Cohan, CEO of Team 211 Entertainment, which runs the Irwindale Event Center housing the speedway, expressed surprise at receiving word this week from the property's owners notifying him they would shut down the facility.

Sarah Ardalani, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Officer, said Andrew Joseph Acuna, 33, has been charged with attempted murder of an officer, assault upon an officer, carrying a dirk or dagger and resisting an officer.
