    Monsoon season produced another weather record for Ironwood as recorded Wednesday at the National Weather Service site off Cloverland Drive. The employees at the Gogebic-Iron Wastewater Treatment Plant measured 1.94 inches of rain for the 24-hour period to 7 a.m. It rained so hard that at 4:30 a.m. the treatment plant began discharging wastewater into the Montreal River that didn't receive full advanced treatment.

Dick was born June 13, 1941, in Ironwood , son of the late Arnold and Priscilla Eklund, and attended St. Ambrose High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Oct. 2, 1958, serving stateside, and was discharged on Oct. 23, 1961.

    Fishermen participating in the 25th annual Saxon Harbor Spring Classic fishing contest sailed into the harbor on Sunday just before yet another lightning storm struck the area. The coolers of fish were quickly measured and weighed under a tent near the boat landing by 2 p.m. Then the competitors from 32 boats and spectators scrambled to get out of the rain from the storm, while the results were being tabulated.
