    Police were doing surveillance near Dr. Carreon Boulevard and Calhoun Street around 6 a.m. when they spotted a 1995 white Chevrolet pickup truck that was recently reported stolen in Indio, officers said in the release.     A man in Indio has been taken into custody after he created a scene early Wednesday morning by scaling a palm tree and yelling to himself, and at others on the ground. Viewers contacted us after the man climbed the tree at the corner of Jackson Street and Avenue 42 around 7:30 a.m. Indio police arrived to the scene and the man began yelling at officers as he stayed perched in the palm tree.

    According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the inmate was in a holding area when he needed medical assistance at about 6:45 a.m. Deputies and medical personnel delivered preliminary medical treatment, but based on the man's condition he was taken to J.F.K. Memorial Hospital. Officials said the inmate's condition declined when he arrived to the hospital and he died at 7:40 a.m. Officials with the sheriff's department, the Thermal Station and the Coroner's Bureau are investigating his death.
