    Several Cape women who traveled to Brazil recently have received ultrasounds to make sure their pregnancies have not been affected by a rapidly spreading mosquito-borne virus suspected of causing birth defects. Dr. William Agel, a Hyannis obstetrician affiliated with Cape Cod Hospital, said three to five of his pregnant patients have been given ultrasounds to see if their babies' heads are growing normally.

    A Mashpee attorney had his license to practice law suspended for six months after the Board of Bar Overseers found that he falsely represented a woman in Texas as a paralegal so she would have visitation rights with prisoners in two detention centers, according to a state Supreme Judicial Court decision. In 2010, attorney David Randall Harsch was asked by Marilia Luz, a woman he knew from Hyannis, to write letters that falsely stated she worked as a paralegal for him so she could have visitation rights with the prisoners, according to the board's notice.
