    One of Raleigh's largest engineering consulting firms, S&ME Inc., has announced that it will be acquiring the Littlejohn planning and design firm of Nashville in a deal that will rank the combined company among the 100 largest design firms in the country. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the merger of operations between S&ME and Littlejohn will create a company with more than 1,100 employees at about 30 office locations across the U.S. As part of the acquisition, which is expected to be completed on Dec. 31, Littlejohn will become a wholly owned subsidiary of S&ME.
