Deputies say that Lourdes Marroquin-Cruz was apparently going full speed through a stop sign on 80 Avenue at Quincy Street east of Zeeland, and her car slammed broadside into Bonnie Haveman's car, driving both vehicles deep into a field past the intersection.

    A 26-year-old Jenison woman was killed when her car struck a garbage hauler head-on west of Hudsonville before dawn. Investigators think that Rebecca Trevino may have dozed off behind the wheel when her northbound vehicle veered across 48 Avenue, a quarter mile past New Holland Street, and collided with the southbound truck, which then careened into a ditch.

    A 43-year-old Chicagoland man spent the evening at Mercy St. Mary's Hospital after being injured in a two-vehicle crash just west of Hudsonville. According to Ottawa County Sheriff's Sergeant Brian Buter, Spinivasaro Bellamkonda of Aurora was driving in the left lane of westbound I-196 just past the 32 Avenue exit when the "check engine" light came on and he saw the emergency median turnaround ahead.

    A 53-year-old Allendale woman was unhurt but ticketed for causing a two-vehicle injury crash on Holland's North Side around dawn this morning. Deputies say that Danette Otten turned from 96 Avenue north of Quincy Street into a driveway in front of Katie DeZwaan's vehicle, causing the 35-year-old Zeeland mother to lose control and slam head on into the vehicle of 54-year-old Christie Cooke of Hudsonville, who was extricated and taken to Spectrum-Zeeland Community Hospital with serious injuries.

According to Ottawa County Sheriff's Sergeant Matt Wildfong, Toby Curry was driving eastbound on Port Sheldon Street north of his hometown around 10:30 PM when his vehicle collided with the northbound vehicle of 89-year-old Rhyne Lubbers, also of Hudsonville, that was bearing down at full speed along 48th Avenue.

    A three-vehicle pileup in Jenison just before 12 Noon yesterday led to the hospitalizing of two of the drivers involved. Sheriff's deputies say that 39-year-old Regina Wolma of Hudsonville drove her westbound vehicle on Baldwin Street through a red light at 28th Avenue.
