    Clinton High set the tone Friday night with a big play, but the little things made the difference for the visiting Gaels, who stopped Hudson High, 27-0, at the Morgan Bowl, On its first series, Clinton grabbed a 7-0 lead when senior quarterback Andrew Grady threw a strike to fleet-footed Alex Ortiz, who got behind the defense for a 48-yard touchdown. The Gaels' defense then made sure one score was enough and earned the shutout with sure tackling and forcing three Hudson turnovers.

The 0-3 Gaels, a Division 5 team, are coming off a 26-16 loss to Oakmont Regional, while 1-2 Hudson, a Division 4 team, came from behind to down Westboro 41-34 last Saturday for its only win of the season thus far. The Hawks opened the season with a 37-14 loss to Auburn and then fell 23-6 to Groton-Dunstable.

Chieftain Olivia Hurd scored on a penalty stroke at the 26:15 mark of the first half to put her team on the board In the second half, Sid Lowe scored, assisted by Sarah Gaffney, Rachel Farley scored, assisted by Hurd, and Hurd scored for a second time, assisted by Emma Caviness.
