A preliminary investigation by Hopewell Police revealed that a 5-year-old boy was playing alongside his sibling on the side of their residence when a vehicle approached them.

    Officers responded to a call of a stabbing at a residence in the 1100 block of Wall Avenue on April 1 at around 5:50 p.m. Jonathan Branch, 29, of Hopewell was taken into custody by officers after arriving on the scene and discovering another person had been stabbed several times. The preliminary investigation revealed that Branch and the victim, who live in the same home, had gotten into a verbal disagreement that became physical, leading to the victim being stabbed multiple times.
