The two-day, nine-team tournament included eight 4A schools - and Homer - who finished 5-3 overall in the dual format.

    On the final day of the Mariners' July football "camp," Homer High School head coach Josh Fraley introduced a new team-building exercise to his team. It came in the form of a 12-mile challenge run that started at the school in town , and ended at the coach's house at Diamond Ridge Everyone completed the run - maybe because there was barbecue at the finish line - but Fraley felt it was successful enough to make it part of the team's annual preseason preparation.
