    Light up Homer for the holidays The Homer Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Visitors Center on 5-7 p.m. Dec. 4. Festivities include music, refreshments, a bonfire, crafts for kids and photos with Santa. The spruce tree on the front lawn of the chamber will be lit up for the holidays at 6 p.m. Mayor Beth Wythe is encouraging families, local businesses and organizations to string holiday lights on homes and businesses, hang decorative lights in windows; and turn on porch lights at 6 p.m. - the same time the chamber tree is illuminated.

    The Homer hockey squad faces intense competition from three other teams this week at the End of the Road Shoot-Out at Kevin Bell Homer Glacier King Pee Wee C's took the title of 2015 Peninsula Power Play Tournament Champions in the annual tournament held in Kenai and Soldotna last weekend. The tournament fielded a division of six Pee Wee Tier III teams from around Southcentral Alaska.
