    The Missiles and More Museum on Topsail Island reopened on May 22 after the Assembly Building, which is where the museum is housed, underwent $150,000 worth of repairs. According to Edna Smith, president of the Historical Society of Topsail Island, the repairs began in September and included complex and structural repairs to the building's roof truss system.

    Carin Faulkner was chosen out of 18 total applicants at a special closed meeting of the Holly Ridge Town Council, said Town Clerk Heather Reynolds. The Holly Ridge Town Council announced a $70,000 salary for Faulkner following their closed session, Reynolds said.

    Dan Tuman returns as mayor defeating incumbent Fred Burns by a count of 107 to 91. In the council race with three seats up for grabs, Richard Peters retained his seat placing third with 112 votes. Challenger Mike Benson received the most votes with 147 followed by former Alderman Tom Leonard with 116 votes.

    HOLLY RIDGE l Most of this small, Onslow County town's 1,491 registered voters took a pass on voting in Tuesday's Municipal Election but those who cast ballots favored incumbent Mayor Anita Dingler over challenger Lance Sustaita. Voters said yes to Dingler giving the incumbent mayor another term. Dingler defeated challenger Sustaita by nearly a two-to-one ratio with a count of 101 to 50. In 2013, Dingler fought off two challengers - Kenneth Roe lll and Joe Edwards capturing 125 votes to Roe's 51 write-in votes and Edwards 45 votes.
