    By Nolan Madden The Holbrook City Council denied this month a proposed change to a city ordinance which would allow spay, neuter and pet adoption fees at the Holbrook Animal Care and Control Shelter to be waived for senior citizen residents under the city's Golden Agers and Pets program. The change was opposed by Mayor Bobby Tyler, Vice Mayor Wade Carlisle, and Councilmen Earl Kester and Richard Peterson, and favored by Councilmen Tim Dixon and C.J. Wischmann, and Councilwoman Francie Payne.

    By Greg Perkins Holbrook finished ninth among 15 teams in the boys' division of the Mogollon Early Meet held last Friday with nine team points and seventh in the girls' competition with 36. Snowflake won the boys' title with 219.5 points, followed by Show Low with 149 and Payson with 96. The Lobos also won the girls' side with 142 points. Show Low was second with 141.5 and Ganado was third with 99. For Holbrook in the boys' 100 meter dash, Johnathan Dawson placed 11th with a time of 12.36; and Jeffrey Jones, 14th.

The results left them with a 4-6 record going into their game against the Show Low Cougars on March 19. They will host the Younker Roughriders today and play the Broncos on Friday, March 25, at Poston Butte. In the victory over Cactus, Matt Ramos was the winning pitcher, allowing just two runs, only one of which was earned, on just six hits and three walks.
