    The Hill County Sheriff's Office made an arrest at 2:31 a.m. Monday, April 17. According to reports, authorities made contact with a 39-year-old Austin man during a traffic stop on Interstate 35 north of Hillsboro. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies located a small amount of illegal drugs.

    The Hillsboro City Council will meet in regular session Tuesday, April 18, at 6 p.m. The council will consider a re-quest from the Main Street Board to close Franklin Street between Waco and Covington streets for the purpose of holding the Cinco de Mayo celebration Saturday, May 6. A recommendation by the Planning and Zoning Commission to accept the re-plat of Craig Addition, part of lots 52 and 53, located on Ivy and Corsicana streets, will be considered.

    A slow-moving storm system that made its way across Central Texas dumped large amounts of rainfall Monday evening, April 10, into Tuesday morning, April 11. The precipitation caused flash flooding in many parts of the state including portions of Hill County early Tuesday morning. During the Hill County Commissioners' Court meeting Tuesday, April 11, officials announced that some parts of the county received between four-and-a-half to five inches of rain in a 12-hour time span.

    The Hillsboro Police Department made an arrest following the investigation of a home invasion in March at 11:39 a.m. Tuesday, April 4. According to reports, authorities detained a 21-year-old Hillsboro man in the 100 block of Corsicana Highway. He was wanted for burglary of a habitation after breaking into a home in the 100 block of Craig Street Monday morning, March 20. Bond was set at $5,000 on Denzell Davis by Justice of the Peace Shane Brassell.

    Hillsboro Fire/Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 300 block of Sycamore Street in Hillsboro at 8:03 a.m. Saturday, April 1. Whitney Fire/Rescue and Itasca Volunteer Fire Department provided mutual aid and extinguished the blaze shortly after firefighters responded. A 38-year-old Hillsboro woman was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

Reports indicated that authorities made contact with a wanted 30-year-old Hillsboro man at a residence in the 100 block of East Walnut Street. The suspect ran from police in an attempt to evade an arrest but was quickly subdued by authorities.
