    Several major supporters of the Gallipolis River Recreation Festival were recently treated to a two-hour river cruise aboard Amherst Madison's J.S. Lewis. Amherst Madison purchased the former OKAN Marine repair in May of 2016 and has since relocated all of their shipyard assets from Henderson, W.Va.

    A Henderson man has been charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly killed his mother's dog, according to a complaint filed in Mason County Magistrate Court. Michael S. Watson, 44, was arrested by deputies with the Mason County Sheriff's Department this week.

    The Mason County Sheriff's Department reports Joy D. Black, 48, West Columbia, was arrested this week and charged with 45 counts of fraudulent use of an access device. According to the criminal complaint filed in Mason County Magistrate Court, between Feb. 27 and March 27, Black allegedly used a debit card belonging to a person she had been staying with, without that person's authorization or knowledge, on 45 separate occasions.

    This past Friday night, people in Mason County were bracing for what felt like a possible overdose epidemic within a matter of hours, similar to the one that occurred in Huntington, last year. For Mason County EMS staff, there were 14 unresponsive/possible overdose calls into the Mason County 911 Center between 1:45 p.m. and 6 p.m., that night, according to EMS Director Dylan Handley. 6 comments

    According to Point Pleasant Fire Chief Jeremy Bryant, firefighters were dispatched at 9:46 p.m. to the home of Maia Endicott, with the back porch and back side of the house on fire. Though residents were home at the time the fire broke out, everyone in the house and family pets, were able to escape without injury.

    Visiting Buffalo led wire-to-wire and also avenged a 29-point setback to the Point Pleasant girls basketball team on Tuesday night following a 35-27 decision in a non-conference girls basketball contest in Mason County. The host Lady Knights - who were without six players due to either injury, illness or other reasons - struggled out of the gates as the Lady Bison scored the first four points before securing an 8-2 edge after eight minutes of play.

    According to a joint press release from the Mason County Sheriff's Department and the Mason County Prosecutor's Office, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, around 1 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a crash at Chestnut Street in Henderson. Deputies report Chanse Baird, 18, Henderson, allegedly lost control of a Mercedes going across the roadway, striking a telephone pole before going over an embankment and into the Kanawha River.
