    One person died in a crash on Interstate 66 near Haymarket, Virginia, which closed the westbound lanes through the Monday morning commute. A multi-vehicle crash happened on I-66 near Exit 43 between Gainesville and Haymarket at around 9 a.m. One person died in the crash, Virginia State Police said.

    The Virginia State Police say that one person died in the crash, which happened at around 9 a.m. Two medevacs are on their way to the scene. On account of Monday's extreme heat, the Virginia Department of Transportation says, officers are heading up and down the line of stopped cars to make sure drivers don't run out of fuel by keeping their air conditioning running.

    One of the last working farms in Prince William County has been granted a reprieve by the state of Virginia, which had intended to build a commuter lot on the land along Interstate 66. The family-owned cattle farm has been around for 79 years and was slated to become the Haymarket park-and-ride, one of several parking lots the Virginia Department of Transportation plans to build as part of proposed improvements to the interstate corridor . On Monday, the Prince William County board of supervisors held a special hearing to approve sending a letter to VDOT officially requesting that the Heflins' 125- acre Cedars Farm be removed as the proposed site for the Haymarket commuter lot.
