    A news release from the Coast Guard says the 63-year-old woman was suffering chest pains Monday morning. The ship, named the Norwegian Breakaway, was about 39 miles northeast of Hatteras, near the Outer Banks barrier islands.

    A Coast Guard response boat from their Hatteras Inlet station is taking passengers off the ferry to the ferry terminal in Hatteras. Ferry system spokesman Tim Hass says the Ocracoke-Hatteras ferry was almost to Hatteras when it hit a shoal near marker 12. He said it was near low tide with gusts to 30 knots when it happened around 11:30 a.m. and at first they tried to re-float the ferry using its own power.
