    JACKSON The Michigan High School Athletic Association released its classifications for the 2015-16 year on Monday and five Jackson-area schools are moving up a class. Jackson Northwest and Parma Western are moving from Class B to Class A while Jackson Lumen Christi, Hillsdale and Jonesville will go from Class C to Class B. "I guess the best way to look at it is we are a growing district," Western athletic director Jason Porter said.

    A 21-year-old Haslett man has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting death of an 81-year-old man . Michigan State Police Lieutenant David Kaiser said investigators were able to track the man to a Days Inn in Lansing Saturday afternoon, March 28. Kaiser said the suspect was was taken into police custody without incident.

Kaiser said family members entered the home in the 14,000 block of Dunn Road to find their 81-year-old father dead from apparent gun shot wounds. Kaiser said the victim's white 2-door 2000 3/4 ton Chevy pickup is missing.
