    A federal grand jury that met in Rutland has handed down a seven-page indictment charging a Hartland widow with embezzlement after investigators from the United States Secret Service determined that she'd allegedly siphoned nearly $700,000 from a New Hampshire law firm where she'd worked for 15 years. Catherine McKinney, 61, had worked for Myers Associates beginning as a legal secretary, then a paralegal, and finally as a bookkeeper until she left her job this January, according to the three-count indictment which was made public last Wednesday.
