    A $2.1 million project to connect non-motorized trails around West Michigan is in full swing with better weather conditions and is scheduled to be completed by spring of 2018. A section of the Berry Junction Trail, running from McMillan Road in the north to Lake Street in the south, is being constructed mostly along Whitehall Road that connects the Berry Junction Phase One Trail to Muskegon's Lakeshore Trail.

    MUSKEGON, MI A large contingent of Muskegon-area wrestlers, including 17 regional champions, have qualified for the individual state finals. Whitehall had the most qualifiers with nine in Division 3 and Hart was right behind with eight in Division 4. In the Division 4 regional hosted by Kent City, Hart advanced eight of its 10 wrestlers through to the state finals set for March 2-4 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

The new legislation will update the definition of "firefighter training" in the Firefighters Training Council Act to reflect difficulties firefighters might encounter on the job. Hansen said in a statement the job description of firefighters today goes beyond tasks from when the law was passed 50 years ago.

Main Street in Hart caught fire not long after midnight Thursday, Dec. 15. Symko said her mother, Shirley Ford, crawled out her first-floor apartment window because the building hallway was full of smoke.
