    Despite the rain that caused other track and field meets such as the Southern Tier Athletic Conference meet on Thursday May 18 to be postponed to Friday, the Mid-State Athletic Conference held its conference championship meet without a hitch. On the men's side, Unadilla Valley placed fourth with 81 points, Greene finished seventh with a score of 23 points, Harpursville-Afton placed eight with a score of 20 points, Bainbridge-Guilford placed ninth with a score of 19 points.

    The lady Trojans softball team of Greene suffered a nasty defeat in their first game of the MAC league tournament - getting crushed at home against Harpursville 22-2. Greene was outhit 12-4 in their efforts at the plate, Harpursville snagged two doubles in their 12 hits - as the defensive side for the lady Trojans suffered through five costly errors in the field.

    The Bainbridge-Guilford girls track and field team won the MAC league meet while B-G boys team took third place at the MAC meet held on Monday, April 24. In addition to B-G, Oxford and Harpursville-Afton competed to make up the other rooted Chenango County teams - among the likes of Unatego and Sidney. For the B-G boys, Nick Petrutoni claimed a first place victory in the 100m dash recording a time of 11.7 seconds.

The Hornets of Harpursville captured an early lead, courtesy of Ryan Kachmar's sacrifice fly. They capitalized on that early lead in the second inning, driving in three more runs, behind the bars of Brock Weist and Greg Akrulis.

The difference in the game, Harpursville used their stud pitcher - Ryan Kachmar.

    The Crimson Knights of Afton started their season-opener in the best way possible jumping all over the Hornets of Harpursville in an 11-5 victory on Wednesday April 5. Afton drew first blood in the very first inning when Vincent Caiati drove in the first two runs of the afternoon via the route of the 'long-ball' when he homered to left field. It wouldn't be the only time a Crimson Knight player left the yard.

Bainbridge-Guilford coach Bob Conway led the West and Harpursville coach Kurt Ehrensbeck led the East.

Most recently, head coach - Brandon MacNaught - was named the New York State wrestling coach of the year by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

    During this past week, the Bainbridge-Guilford-Afton-Harpursville Bears wrestling team has climbed to an impressive 10-4 on the season - with their four losses all coming two weekends ago at the vaunted Union-Endicott Duals. Tasting defeat for the first time this at the U-E duals - suffering losses to Mattituck 57-12, Hilton 55-12, Brockport 51-9, and Brentwood 47-30 - the Bears responded in fashion as they were able to feast on the lesser manned Sidney and Greene.

    The Red Devil Invitational - a 23 team wrestling tournament in Vernon-Verona-Sherill - saw the Bears of Bainbridge-Guilford-Afton-Harpursville Bears claw their way to a one-point team win over Mexico - while sending six wrestlers to the finals with four emerging as champions. The tournament held on Saturday, Jan. 14, saw BGAH take the team win over second place Mexico by a winning score of 168-167.
