    The proof of Hardeeville's growth was evident May 5 as the city fire department held a ribbon-cutting to commemorate the opening of Fire Station 83 at Hilton Head Lakes. The 6,000-square-foot facility at 1617 Lakeside Blvd. North will serve Hilton Head Lakes and 2.5 miles each way from the station, which includes the Brickyard-Red Dam area, Hampton Pointe and Courtney Bend.

    The South Carolina Public Charter School District is taking no action against a Hardeeville charter school, after staff members for the Royal Live Oaks Academy forced a 7-year-old student to unclog a toilet containing feces with his hands. District Superintendent Wayne Brazell said the charter school's leadership had notified the district of the incident and the school administration's disciplinary actions.

    Watching the Golf Channel's "Big Break The Palm Beaches FL," he critiqued his swing, remembered some of the competition's pressure shots and realized he needed a haircut. Schaff, a Ridgeland resident, competed in the reality TV show in September, but the first episode did not air until Feb. 2. He was one of 12 golfers who initially competed and one of the final seven until he was eliminated March 9. Schaff, 40, said he played well throughout 2014.
