The Bobcats defeated the Jaguars 21-0 in the final scrimmage before area teams open the season in a week's time.

    Authorities in South Carolina say a beginning driver and her passenger got out just in time after she got stuck trying to turn around at a railroad crossing. An Amtrak train carrying 400 passengers sliced the car in two and the wreckage caught fire as it was dragged down the tracks early Sunday morning.

    A Hilton Head Island man was arrested Monday night as a person of interest in the wreck of a stolen vehicle on U.S. 278 earlier in the day. Thomas Akeem Bryan, 30, was taken into custody at his Oakview Road residence on active felony bench warrants from Jasper County, a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release said.

    The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and Hardeeville Police Department are still searching for a man they say wrecked a stolen minivan Monday morning and escaped on foot on U.S. 278 near Sun City. A Sheriff's Office news release Monday evening said investigators believe the man stole a yellow pickup truck in Sun City that was later found unoccupied on Oakview Road on Hilton Head Island.
