    The Town of Halifax has received $88,090 through a grant fund created by Duke Energy to add new signage to the King's Bridge boat landing on the Banister River, below Banister Lake. Announcement of the grant came Tuesday, with the Town of Halifax among 12 entities to receive money from the Water Resources Fund, a $10 million commitment by Duke Energy to improve water quality, quantity and conservation across the Carolinas and neighboring regions.

William Maurice Medley, 35, turned himself in that night at the Halifax Adult Detention Center in Halifax, where he is being held without bond on charges of first degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
