    Duke Progress Energy and other utility companies are planning to install about 186 miles of 36-inch transmission pipeline in Nash, Northampton, Halifax, Wilson, Johnston, Sampson, Cumberland and Robeson counties, and construct a compressor station in Northampton County. The N.C. Environmental Quality Department will host two other listening sessions to obtain additional community feedback on the proposed pipeline project that will traverse eight North Carolina counties including Nash County.

    The Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department will host the 34th annual Down East Senior Games on May 1 to 12. The games are a partnership among five counties: Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax, Northampton and Wilson. "We have senior competitors that come from as far away as Scotland Neck," says Alex Langley, manager of the city's Senior Center.

    Nash Stop the Pipeline and the Northampton and Durham offices of Clean Water for North Carolina are hosting the meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Halifax County Cooperative Extension Building at 359 Ferrell Lane in Halifax. The 600-mile Atlantic Coast Pipeline will carry natural gas from West Virginia through eight North Carolina counties and end in Lumberton.
