    With a regional airport and access to two major interstate highways in their back pockets, Washington County officials more than a decade ago envisioned about 1,800 acres of land at seven locations around the county as potentially attractive sites for companies in foreign trade markets. However, in the 12 years the county has had its federal Foreign Trade Zone designation, no company has taken advantage of the U.S. Customs concessions associated with the zones, including duty-free imports and other economic incentives.

They say occupants of a gray or silver minivan and a dark-colored sedan exchanged gunfire as they traveled in the same direction for several blocks from Jonathan Street onto Broadway north of the city center.

    Police say 48-year-old Sherry Lee Ramsburg was thrown from her pickup truck and killed after it overturned early Saturday in a crash on Jefferson Boulevard outside of Hagerstown. Investigators say Ramsburg was heading east when her truck crossed over the westbound lanes and off the roadway.

    Maryland State Police says two people have been arrested after a trooper found 100 grams of marijuana in a car during a traffic stop in Washington County. The Maryland State Police says that on Wednesday at about 1:30 a.m. a trooper from the Hagerstown barrack stopped a green 1999 Honda Accord that was speeding on Interstate 70 near Route 66. Maryland State Police says the trooper smelled marijuana and searched the vehicle, leading to the discovery of drugs.
