The Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials say they're motivated in part by a recent spike in vehicles killing deer along U.S. Highway 50 near Gunnison.

    The family of a 25-year-old parolee who died with a cocktail of drugs in his system in the Gunnison County jail has sued the county and the Colorado State Patrol in federal court. Denver attorneys Elisabeth Owen and Bradley Levin, of the Prisoners' Justice League of Colorado, filed the civil lawsuit Wednesday in U.S. District Court on behalf of the parents of Joseph "Trey" Duke III, who died in the jail June 28. The lawsuit, which names the Gunnison County Sheriff's Office, the State Patrol, Gunnison County Sheriff Richard Besecker and 11 deputies, troopers and nurses as defendants, seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages and attorney's fees.
