    The Gretna Police Department was granted a preliminary injunction this week against a local motel, which has been the site of multiple arrests and code violations. Judge Adrian Adams of the 24th Judicial Court in Jefferson Parish ruled in favor of Gretna Police Chief Arthur S. Lawson in declaring the Luxury Inn & Suites a nuisance, the GPD said.

    A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a man dead and another injured Friday near the New Orleans Police Department headquarters. Alvin Richardson was arrested Saturday morning in Gretna after the NOPD issued an arrest warrant for him in connection with the shooting, which occurred after 2:30 p.m. Friday on Broad Street.
