    The specialty outdoor retailer will move its Arapahoe County store, currently near Park Meadows and Ikea at 9637 E. County Line Road, to 9000 E. Peakview Ave. in Greenwood Village this fall, officials announced Monday. The move will allow REI to expand its footprint by about 20,000 square feet, according to a company spokesman.

If approved, the controversial, proposed amendment to the city's comprehensive plan would make it clear that denser, mix-used development should be sought for a 44-acre special planning district centered on the Orchard Station light rail stop west of Interstate 25. The City Council voted to support the plan 5-3 before ultimately deciding to leave the final decision in the hand of the people.
