The Camden Hills Alpine and Nordic ski squads participated in recent meets at different venues, and turned in a mixed bag of results over the weekend. The Windjammer Alpine skiers traveled to Mount Abram in Greenwood for their event on Friday, Jan. 9, while the Nordic athletes traveled to Starks Hill in Fryeburg for the Hornet Classic on Saturday, Jan. 10. The Hornet Classic originally was scheduled at Leavitt Area High School, but was moved to Starks Hill due to not enough snow in Turner. Comment?

Mt. Abram Ski Area in Greenwood, Maine, is wrapping up installation of 803 solar panels that will be used to help pay for the mountain's snow-making efforts. The switch to solar will offset 70 percent of their annual energy usage and save costs from pricey and environmentally unfriendly fossil fuels. Comment?
