    After multiple Center Grove area residents reported thefts from their vehicles late last week, police are warning people that the thefts aren't stopping. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is investigating seven vehicle break-ins early Friday morning in different areas of the Carefree North subdivision in Greenwood, near Peterman and County Line roads.

    A couple that was tied up and robbed at gunpoint last year is suing Greenwood police, claiming the department was negligent by not staying with the man who had been arrested and then left at the hospital before he broke into their house. Ella and Clayton Dixon have filed a lawsuit in Johnson County Circuit Court against the city of Greenwood and Greenwood Police Department seeking damages for emotional distress, pain and suffering, medical expenses and the loss of each other's companionship, according to the lawsuit filed last week.

    A man who was driving a stolen car was tasered and arrested after he ran from officers at a Greenwood gas station William Balay, 23, Avon, was arrested on charges of auto theft, theft, possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement, carrying an unlawful handgun, possession of a restricted drug injection device, possession of legend drugs, giving a false identity statement and a warrant. A Johnson County Sheriff's Office deputy became suspicious of a group of people around a car outside a gas station in the 600 block of South State Road 135, ran the license plate on the vehicle and found it was not registered to the car he was seeing, the report states.
