    L/Cpl Gary Miller of the SC Highway Patrol said that the collision occurred approximately 6:35 a.m. on the Cross Keys Highway near Stone Ridge Road 1.3 miles south of Union. Miller said the accident occurred when a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling south attempted to pass another vehicle and collided with a northbound 1998 Subaru station wagon.

    A Union man will spend the next 15 years in prison for being a convicted felon with a gun in his possession. In a statement released this afternoon, United States Attorney Beth Drake announced that Dennis Earl Byrd, 35, of Union, South Carolina, was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, followed by 5 years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922 .
