    A 9-year-old child is dead in Greenville after being shot with a pellet gun by his 8-year-old brother. According to the Delta Daily News, police responded to the home on McArthur Drive around 8:15 Wednesday night and found the boy with wounds to his chest after being shot with pellets by his younger brother.

    Greenville city officials are trying to decide if they want to keep using state inmates to perform chores once a local community work center closes and inmates are transferred more than 50 miles away to Greenwood. The Delta Democrat-Times reports that a financial consultant told city council members that it could cost $60,000 a year for city employees to ferry inmates back and forth to Greenwood daily.
