    The New York State Thruway Authority announced Wednesday that the southbound South Grand Island Bridge on the Niagara Thruway will close for repair work beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19. During this scheduled work period, contractors will use specialized equipment to grind the road surface on the southbound South Grand Island Bridge that is intended to increase safety during inclement weather. During the closure, all southbound traffic on the I-190 will be shifted into a single lane configuration on the northbound South Grand Island Bridge.
