Root is accused of knocking out 60-year-old Janna Kelly in an apparent landlord-tenant-related altercation in 2007, throwing the older woman into a car trunk and leaving her overnight to die.

    Before being sent off to prison, 46-year-old Kevin Richard Stuhan of Nunica acknowledged that three years of raping and verbally abusing a young teen -- from the time she was 13 until she was 16 "was a major lack of judgment." While he apologized to his victim and her family, calling his crime "a one-time thing," according to a Grand Haven Tribune report, that didn't convince Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Jon Hulsing.

His body was pulled from the waters of Lake Michigan off of Grand Haven State Park on Sunday afternoon, one of two persons who had succumbed to rough conditions , while three others were hospitalized.
