    Gary Wigington eagled two of his last three holes to open up a two-shot lead after a rain-plagued opening round of the Silver Lakes Championship Saturday in Glencoe. "Twig," currently second on the Calhoun County Tour points list, shot a 5-under-par 67. Ty Cole, the Tour leader in points, is right behind Wigington, after shooting a 69. Randy Lipscomb is tied with Cole at 69. Cole has won this tournament three times and Wigington is looking for his first win.

    Two brothers on Monday were charged with murder in connection to the death of a Jacksonville woman earlier this month, officials said. Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade said Timothy Mark Putman, 33, and his brother Tony Lee Putman, 39, were each served a warrant on a murder charge in connection to the death, dismemberment and burning of 26-year-old Kelsey Abigail Williams.

    A forensics expert identified a woman found dead in Glencoe on Saturday as a 26-year-old Jacksonville resident, officials said, and a suspect in her death is in custody on unrelated charges. "I subpoenaed dental records for people we thought it was and the odontologist compared those known records against the victim's teeth," Brown said.

    Glencoe police are investigating a man in connection to the death of a woman whose body was discovered Saturday near the Calhoun-Etowah county line, the chief said on Monday. Glencoe police Chief Tim Diggs said an officer responded with the Glencoe Volunteer Fire Department to a trailer behind RJ's gas station on U.S. 431 at about 4:45 a.m. Saturday.

    A woman was discovered dead Saturday morning just inside the Calhoun County line in Glencoe, Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown said. Brown said he received a call about the woman shortly before 5 a.m. and arrived at the scene to pronounce the woman dead about 6 a.m. "It's a Glencoe address but it's in our county limits," Brown said.
