    Two Glen Burnie residents were arrested and charged with drug possession offenses after police say they were found with small amounts of various drugs as well as 158 grams of Kratom, a botanical substance that has stirred controversy over its legality in the U.S. Anne Arundel police said officers executed a search warrant at 117 Crest Avenue on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. Police said several drugs were seized, including .45 gram of heroin, 8.24 grams of marijuana, 96 blotter tabs of LSD and 2.64 grams of MDMA, sometimes known as "Molly." Kratom, which is not illegal in Maryland, is a botanical substance native to Southeast Asia that causes sedative effects, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
